As a side note... Cinnamon is really a relaxing smell. Got some incense oil delivered today, and fired up an oil burner with some water to float the oil on. Very nice. Makes the den smell even more like 'home.' No other way to describe it. Current Mood:  contentCurrent Music: The Reaping |

I was going to write a bit about a co-worker of mine upon getting home. A co worker who turned a personal vacation into a business trip which my company is paying for, a business trip which means he is attending a race this weekend I would have very much liked to go to without paying, a trip which is getting him additional time off to go and fuck off and basically do nothing. This was bothering me all day. Like kinda eating at me, just because the idea of taking massive advantage of the company just because, especially when we are doing some pretty heavy corporate belt-tightening and I'm doing every thing I can to nickel and dime my suppliers in the hopes of helping the bottom line for my department...well, you get the idea. But do you know what? I got a new helmet because we couldn't sell the photo samples from our catalog last year as the colors were wrong, and I'm the only one who wears a medium in a Shoei RF-1000. Well, I'm probably the only one who knows how a helmet should fit, but I digress (I don't have an amazingly smaller head than anyone else I work with, and seeing a few folks in helmets makes me fear for their lives when they hit the ground...) and I was reminded how damned nice a Shoei is versus a less premium helmet. I still love my KBC dearly and I feel perfectly safe in it, but this one is definitely nicer. More air flow, clearer optics, and definitely slightly quieter. When I add my chin curtain and get my headphones replaced... oh, hell yes. Just saying. That and ripping through traffic like a complete asshole taking all of my frustration out on speed limits, my rear tire and the pavement proved to put me in a substantially improved mood. Now I just wish this headache from my neck would decide to see what the weather is like in Bermuda or something... But then again, I see the orthopedic surgeon on the 31st, so we'll see if that gets taken care of. At this point, I suspect that scary disc-shaving surgery is going to be recommended. Now, I think a Rum and Coke is in order, followed by the switching of the laundry and more perusing the wonderment and horror that the internet offers while I wait for Grau to arrive home, so we can head out and get dinner and perhaps a movie. :( So far, I woke up at 11am, spent like two hours out here on the internets...and then the rest of the day I've been in either my bed or the bathroom. :/ Now I feel a little better, but my stomach is so empty, it's making these REALLY STRANGE NOISES. Like I've never heard anyone's stomach make these noises and it's really really funny. I want cheez-its and sprite. ): Beau won't go get them for me. What a meanie. Current Mood:  sick |

Yes, my trip report will be going up this weekend, but for now I have another little announcement. For the last 3 years I've been on a series of temporary contracts at work, first I was going to be employed for only 6 months, then they extended that to 11, then added another 6 months and so on, but I was always no more than 6 months away from being out of work. If they kept me for 4 years on a series of temporary contracts they would have to take me on permanently, I was two extensions away from that, not by any means guaranteed. However today they called us all together in a meeting and.... I've been made permanent ^^ *happy wuffie dance* You have NO idea how much of a weight that is off my shoulders. I now have a permanent, full time job a year before I thought I had any chance of getting one. Yaaaaaay!! Current Mood:  bouncy |

I'm Short and Heavy  Shawn gave me a funny idea when he said he hadn't slept well lately and I told him he probably had panda bear eyes from sleep deprevation. I guess I should explain the subject for this entry since that comic has absolutely nothing to do with it. Yesterday me and my sister went to Big Lots to buy mac n' cheese and some orange pop, both of which they didn't have making it a very pointless trip for both of us. Just for fun though we went and stood on the weight scales to see how much we weighed. Now, I was only wearing shorts and a T-shirt and then took off my sandals before standing on it. The scale said I weighed a little over 190 lbs. I'm only 5' 8" and don't even look that heavy!(At least I don't think I do) So afterward I started laughing because those standard BMI calculators that determine your height to weight ratio always tell me I'm obese. Even cooler If anyone besides me remembers the Deep Impact space probe, that launches a copper bullet into an asteroid? It's still working, and NASA has extended its mission to do other stuff. Lead Burrito. Team Lunch like thing happened today. Fell to me suggest a place, I suggested Mexican. After a few minutes of thrashing it around we agreed on La Bamba on Old Middlefield. When we got there we discovered that there was a camera crew filming a segment for an upcoming Best of the Bay like show on Channel 4. Seems that La Bamba won their contest for best Mexican in the Bay. My soul has been captured and will likely show up on television sometime the 27th of July. Mild w00t? Sure, why not. As for best Mexican food in the Bay? I'm not so sure I'd agree. I don't think I've found a place that I'd call the best. Oh sure, my burrito tasted awesome at the time but now it's slowly moving through me like a block of lead; I'm quite distressed by this, actually. I don't think it's a bad place but...I dunno...I've never really compared to any other place myself. Current Mood: amused |

JOKERJOKERJOKERJOKER Gonna see TDK tomorrow at noon. I'm excited. After that, Beau and Kate really want to go to Hancock. ): I really really really want to see Hellboy. So that sucks since I don't get to. After that, we're going to eat CHINESE FOOD. I'm kinda hungry. Maybe I will eat soup. And I really want to watch a movie, but I don't know what and Beau is sleeping in here. I slept for like...from 8am-11am so that I could be tired enough to go to sleep at a decent hour so I can be awake tomorrow so we can leave and go see the MOVIE. I'm really tired, though, I want to go back to sleep. I think I'll watch Family Guy. I worked on art yesterday but I didn't finish anything. How awesome am I? :/ Not very, that's how awesome. I was going to do it at night when I usually do it, but then Beau was watching Scrubs on his comp and I had to go sit on the couch and watch it with him because I LOVE that show. We watched Scrubs until like 7am. It was awesome. Current Mood: tired |
